I really enjoy to travel within Europe, as it is so uncomplicated and everything is kinda easy to reach... No Jet Lag, no long distance flights and so on. And as the temperatures are getting warmer and warmer now, this is actually the perfect time to book a short trip to Greece, right?! ;) In line with this topic, I have a small review about one of my favorite hotels on Crete for you, the beautiful St. Nicolas Bay. I was staying there for a few days last year and I'm still completely in love with this adorable place! The hotel is located in the north-east of the island, about 1,5 km away from the little village Agios Nikolaos, which is actually one of the top summer hotspots on Crete, having a great range of cute Boutiques, Bars, Cafés and so on... The hotel itself is located right on its own beach section and offers a stunning view above the beautiful Mirabello Bay. There is a huge choice of different room and Suite types which you can book (here you can see all the details regarding the different ones), all together the hotel offers 113 rooms, Suites and private Villas, all of them with sea view! Another highlight of the hotel is definitely the great choice of restaurants and bars which are all absolutely recommendable. But my personal top 3 were: 1) The Blue Bay, an all-day Restaurant with a very nice view above the bay, serving different mediterranean and asian dishes. 2) The Kafenion! Here you can enjoy the most amazing traditional greek food in a very charming atmosphere (You'll have a stunning sunset view there as well!) 3) The Minotaure, which is direclty located on one of the swimming pools and the perfect place for a romantic candlelight dinner. You can choose here from international and asian cuisine and also a great selection of wine is available - of course in all of the restaurants in the whole hotel! Another highlight of my stay was definitely the visit of the Poseidon Spa! We had a bit of rain on one afternoon and so this was actually the perfect opportunity to explore the Spa and relax there till the weather was clearing up again. The Spa offers a heated indoor pool, turkish steam baths and saunas, a beauty salon and of course several treatment rooms, which are all designed very appealing, offering a Jacuzzi and rainforest shower for example. Also the treatment itself was really fantastic, the staff is perfectly trained and knows how to advise you at best according to your personal health needs. I can really recommend a visit ih the Spa! Basically the whole service in the hotel was flawless, the staff was so lovely and friendly and I'm always so thrilled by the huge hospitality of the greek people, they're honestly so warm-hearted! So in my opinion St. Nicolas Bay is such a perfect place for a short weekend trip or of course a longer summer holiday as well, by the way you only fly about 2,5 hours to there from munich - it's so easy to reach! Ich persönlich liebe es ja innerhalb Europas zu reisen... kein Jet Lag, keine ewig langen Flüge, alles ist einfach total unkompliziert! Und eine meiner absoluten Lieblings-Destination ist ganz klar: Griechenland. Da die Temperaturen nun langsam wieder steigen und es im Süden schon angenehm warm ist, ist das ja nun quasi der perfekte Zeitpunkt um einen baldigen Trip nach Griechenland zu planen ;) Passend dazu habe ich hier eine kleine Hotel-Review für euch, und zwar über das St. Nicolas Bay auf Kreta. Ich war dort im letzten Jahr und bin nach wie vor immer noch hin und weg! Das Hotel liegt im Nord-Osten der Insel, ca. 1,5 km entfernt vom kleinen Örtchen Agios Nikolaos, einem der Sommer-Hotspots auf Kreta mit vielen tollen Boutiquen, Bars, Cafés usw... Das Hotel selbst liegt direkt am eigenen Privatstrand, und bietet einen wunderschönen Panorama-Blick über die Mirabello Bucht. Es gibt eine großzügige Auswahl verschiedener Zimmer- & Suite-Kategorien (einen genauen Überblick findet ihr hier), insgesamt verfügt das St. Nicolas Bay über 113 Zimmer, Suiten und Privatvillen, alle davon haben Meerblick. Ein weiteres Highlight des Hotels sind auf jeden Fall die vielen verschiedenen Bars und Restaurants, jedes davon ist absolut empfehlenswert und einzigartig. Meine 3 Favoriten waren aber ganz klar: 1) Das Blue Bay, ein ganztages Strand-Restaurant mit einem sehr schönen Blick über die Bucht. Serviert werden dort verschiedene mediterrane und asiatische Speisen & Snacks. 2) Das Kafeneion! Dort gibt es traditionelle griechische Küche in einem authentischen und charmanten Ambiente (Hier habt ihr einen wunderschönen Blick auf den Sonnenuntergang - und das Essen ist natürlich eine absolute Wucht!) 3) Das Minotaurus, direkt an einem der Pools gelegen, kann man hier in einer romantischen Atmosphäre speisen und ein wunderschönes Candlelight Dinner genießen. Serviert wird hier internationale und asiatische Küche und es gibt natürlich auch eine große Auswahl verschiedener Weine... Was ich ebenfalls nicht unerwähnt lassen will, ist ein weiteres Highlight des Hotels: Der Poseidon Spa! Wir hatten an einem Nachmittag leider etwas Regen und haben die Chance dann genutzt uns in den Spa zu verziehen und hier richtig zu relaxen, bis das Wetter wieder aufgeklart ist. Der Spa verfügt u.a. über einen beheizten Innenpool, türkische Dampfbäder & Saunen, einen Beauty Salon und natürlich auch über etliche Behandlungsräume, die wirklich sehr stilvoll gestaltet sind, unter anderem mit eigenem Jacuzzi und Regenwalddusche. Wir durften hier dann zwei Massagen testen und waren wirklich sehr begeistert, das Personal im Spa ist perfekt geschult und geht genau auf die Bedürfnisse ein die man äußert. Sehr zu empfehlen! Prinzipiell war der komplette Service im Hotel wirklich herausragend gut, das Personal war so lieb und zuvorkommend und ich bin vor der herzlichen und gastfreundlichen Art der Griechen einfach immer wieder begeistert! Das Hotel ist meiner Meinung nach wirklich großartig und perfekt für einen kurzen Wochenendtrip oder einen längeren Sommerurlaub - man fliegt von München aus nur knapp zweieinhalb Stunden nach Kreta...
